Miramar Events This Week

Miramar vs Northeast - High School football

The Miramar Patriots will take on the Northeast Hurricanes tomorrow, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. for their home opener. 

The Patriots dominated South Plantation last week with a 42-7 victory. Miramar relied on their ground game, running for 248 combined yards in the season opener. 

Miramar plans to use the same strategy against Northeast tomorrow.

Southern Circuit Film Festival
 
The Miramar Cultural Center will host the 2013 Southern Circuit Film Festival on Wednesday Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. 

The first film is Fall & Winter, an "epic and spectacularly photographed journey across the US in search of what is causing our unfolding global crisis," per the film's [official site]. 

The director, Matt Anderson, will have a Q&A session following the film. 

Tickets are $5.

Commission Approves $50 Million Revenue Bond



The Miramar City Commission approved the proposed $50 million revenue bond during Tuesday’s commission meeting after weeks of debate among residents over whether the city should borrow this money for questionable projects.

Miramar to Vote on $50 million Revenue Bond


The first of two town hall meetings was held this past Tuesday at Sunset Lakes Community Center. Mayor Lori Moseley presented the breakdown of the proposed $50 million revenue bond with the two largest projects being a new amphitheater in Miramar Regional Park and the construction of a new Miramar Police Headquarters in town center.

2013 Miramar High School Preview



The Miramar Patriots landed in the seven spot of this year's South Florida high school football top 20 poll by the Miami Herald. 

The Patriots went 7-5 in 2012 and ranked 35th in the state. Damon Cogdell will start his 5th year as head coach for the Patriots. Miramar won its last state title in Cogdell's first year in 2009.

Miramar Selects New City Manager


The Miramar City Commission announced in a special meeting on Monday their selection for Miramar's newest City Manager.

Kathleen Woods-Richardson, director of Miami-Dade Public Works and Waste Management, will serve as Miramar’s fourth City Manager following Eric Soroka, William Estabrook, and Robert Payton.
