Art Basel continues in Miramar! Haitian artist Philippe Dodard will showcase his work at the Miramar Cultural Center this Friday, Dec. 20. More from SouthWest Broward Forum:
"Born in Port-au-Prince, Dodard is a celebrated Haitian painter, graphic artist and illustrator, whose works have been exhibited throughout the Americas and Europe and include large sculptures, ironworks and jewelry designs as well as paintings. His work has been credited as the inspiration for Donna Karan’s 2012 spring/summer collection.
While Haitian influences are evident, especially in his bold use of color, Dodard has expanded on tradition to create a fresh Haitian sophistication and contemporary aesthetic that are uniquely his own."The exhibit is open through Jan. 25, Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
